Backend Performance Enhancements
Posted on Oct 25th 2009, 21:22 by Chickenhen

Not as exciting an update as new features, but we've been running some profilers on the site, and we've been making changes to the way the site is delivered to try improve their performance.

So hopefully you should notice your site is running faster now.

Also remember that this weekend in the UK the clocks went back an hour - so you can use the timezone feature to change your timezone.

We Have All The Time In The World
Posted on Oct 9th 2009, 07:41 by BlackICE

Chickenhen has returned from Hong Kong, and has brought world time back with him.

This weeks update includes some significant new features and fixes:

  • World time, at both the site and user level.
  • New optional template file for elements (element_template.ctp).
  • New members page which only shows clan members, accessable through the menu options in site settings.
  • Members pages are now sortable by column.
  • Each element now calls its own CSS file, which means you no longer have to update your css files when a new element is released, but also means you can easily change the way element display.
  • Date of birth no longer sets to 1970 when left blank.
  • Change password now works for all members (Doh!).
  • Upgrade of our core.

Donations Go Global
Posted on Oct 4th 2009, 02:48 by BlackICE

Well I am flying solo this week with Chickenhen off globe trotting to Hong Kong to set up Boku's Asian head office.

This weeks update consists of a major upgrade to the donations system and a new requested element.

[e:top_donators currency=USD amount=5]

Meet the top donators element.

This element required a radical change to the way the donation system worked. The donation system lets you donate money using a variety of currencies; and in order to get a true reflection of who has donated the most we have to convert these currencies into a single comparable currency. In order to do this the system can now convert any currency to any currency, and updates its currency rates daily.

You can also now edit the post date of news posts.

Well thats all Boku chums, please keep the requests coming.

Small Update
Posted on Sep 13th 2009, 19:01 by Chickenhen

Just a minor fix this week, with regards to the forums; there was a problem with some of the youtube video code being accidentally detected as a potential security risk, and so getting removed in forum posts - which then stopped the videos from working. So we've now made it detect it properly, so videos will work fine.

We're looking into the upcoming features on our end; though some of us are away on holiday in the up coming weeks - so nothing big will be introduced, so that we can make sure we have a compeltly stable site during that time.

Cheers,
Chickenhen
