theme guide and users online
Posted on Aug 3rd 2009, 15:03 by Chickenhen filed under : Updates

Hi guys,

our weekly update has been shifted one day to today [Monday], as I was out getting sunburn in a field watching Metallica; but fear not - as it's worth the wait.

this week Steve has been busy working away on his very extensive guide to theming, to help you guys get the most out of your site. You can check out his guide in the book theming section. He also knocked up two new themes which you can check out on our dev portal.

We've also added a new element which shows the current users logged into your site, just use [e:users_online] in your element site settings.

We're also working on some of the core framework in preparation for the upcoming features; however you shouldn't notice any of these changes ;)

Cheers,
Henry

Outbox is... Out!
Posted on Jul 26th 2009, 14:35 by BlackICE filed under : Updates

This week there has been alot of internal talk about where we can take the site, we have ALOT of ideas floating around, and we will let you know when you can expect to see these things put into action.

This week turned into a fairly large update in the end.

Features

  • Server Name - You can now specify a server name, which will override the name of the server taken from the live data.
  • Outbox - Its been a long time coming but its finally here, the private messages outbox! (please note this will only work for messages sent from release).
  • Teamspeak/Ventrilo Cache - Ventrilo/TS will only refresh every 30 seconds, which should increase the speed of your site quite significantly if you use the Ventrilo/Teamspeak elements.
  • News HTML - You can now use HTML in your news posts.
  • Hit Counter - Using the [e:hits] element will show you how many hits/unique visitors your clan website has had.
  • Guests Online - Forum now shows how many guests are currently online.

Fixes & Enhancements

  • Word Pasting - Pasting from Microsoft Word should now work, and retain formatting. This is a difficult thing to get right as Word throws in a lot of junk data. I still recommend that you do all your editing in your in clan site editor.
  • Quoting - When quoting a forum post you should now see the quote clearly as you are replying.
  • Inbox - Restyled to look like outbox.
  • Forum/News - The video embed link now works!
  • Result Management - Changed to show newest match at the top.

And we are out.

visual tweaks and match images
Posted on Jul 19th 2009, 14:05 by Chickenhen filed under : Updates

This week we tweaked some views, such as the results index - so they look better with large amount of result text, we've also added the ability to upload match screenshots.

We're starting to think about our new major feature upgrades here. Top Secret for now ;) but in preperation for that we will be refactoring some of our code so that we can more easily integrate these in.

We're also going to catch up on some of the core site work we need to do, so there won't be any major new developments in your clan site for the next week or two, just a few minor enhancements and tweaks.

Key Features

  • Match screenshots uploads

Bug Fixes / Enhancements

  • Link Topic / User on forum first page
  • Pagination for forum search, and view recent
  • results index page overview view has been updated to look better with long text
  • results admin index has been tidied up also
  • squad links have been removed from user page overview to allow more space for long text

core site updates, and forum tweaks
Posted on Jul 12th 2009, 14:34 by Chickenhen filed under : Updates

This week saw a few minor updates to the system,

focusing on forum visual improvements, and also some extra news functionality.

We've also been working on improving the core boku site, to try and help show off what our systems are capable of - so we've updated the features page with links to the boku guide book.

We've also added a new forum category on the core site for some game discussion, so come join us in discussions.

I watched penn and teller this week, where they had an episode on video game violence - I do not recommend it, unless you really want to hear a man shout obscenities really loudly for 20 minutes, with about 1 minute of game footage inbetween.

Key Features

  • Added ability to see whether a category has new posts within its sub-topics
  • Added Extra details on the forum overview page, showing more information about sub-topics within categories

Bugs Fixes / Enhancements

  • added ability to set news posts as clan only, so they will only be available to clan members
  • added extra navigation links within the forum to jump to last page of threads e.t.c.

Guide Progress Update
Posted on Jul 5th 2009, 02:30 by Chickenhen filed under : Updates

Another week passes and work continues.

Though it's hard to get work done in the heat UK has right now- [pro dating tip: sitting around in your underwear coding is not the way to pick up girls]

This week we've been working on user guides for the system - to help you make the most of what we offer. They're not finished yet, but we've covered all the main functionality within the site. It's the advanced features that we're working on writing up right now; and making sure our screenshots look pretty.

[For a sneak peak you can check them out here - but they're a work in progress]

As we've got quite a lot of the core book down, next week we'll be working on a few minor updates to the clan system, some work will be done on forums, matches and news - check out the full list here.
